I wanted to come up with something like May’s A Blazin’ – but it’s really cold this morning! Let’s just say Blaze has some amazing books out this month with great authors, fun stories and super covers.
Once burned, twice shy
Lola Whittaker can’t remember a time when she didn’t want smoke jumper Erik McKnight—those stormy gray eyes, that rock-hard bod… But once burned, twice shy, and Lola swore she would never make the same mistake again. But that won’t stop her from making a new one. Like getting into the wrong bunk and having the hottest night of her life—with Erik.
Erik knows Lola will never forgive him for what happened that disastrous night six years ago—he sure as hell hasn’t forgiven himself. But when the woman he’s dreamed about every night since climbs into his bed, it’s impossible to turn her away.
It’s just one night, right? Except now Lola’s pregnant…
A game they both want to win
Lainey Harper has never been a puck bunny. She wants nothing to do with hockey or hockey players—not after what she’s been through. So why can’t she resist Cooper Mead?
Portland’s newest hockey star, Cooper, is all muscle and charisma. And he’s Lainey’s worst nightmare. Hooking up with him would bring back memories that Lainey needs to keep buried. And risk the hard-earned anonymity she’s sacrificed everything to protect.
When Lainey finally gives in to Cooper’s sexy charm, the chemistry’s intense—but so is the media exposure. And now Lainey’s got even more to lose than her secret—she’s got Cooper.
Everything depends on this one day
Would anyone hire a wedding planner who was left at the altar? The answer, Kate Hartley has found out, is no. It’s been nearly a year since her fiancé abandoned her at their destination wedding, and Kate’s career is nearly toast. Unless she can pull off the wedding of the century for her new clients, a Hollywood power couple. So why is the groom’s brother, sexy-as-hell resort owner Scott Dillon, trying to stop the wedding?
Scott wants to do the right thing—the bride-to-be is keeping a secret and Scott’s brother deserves the truth before he says “I do.” But if Scott doesn’t stop trying to stall the wedding, he’ll ruin Kate’s career, not to mention any chance he has of being with her.
Astronaut Isabelle Wolsten fought like hell to be one of the final candidates for the CRONUS mission to space. She can’t afford to be distracted by teammate Antonio “Playboy” Curzon’s broad shoulders, dark, sexy eyes and hot-as-hell Spanish accent. But one searing kiss from Antonio and Izzy knows she’s definitely hit mission critical.
When the two astronauts are put in direct competition for a top spot on the mission, they’ll be tested beyond their limits. Getting involved with Antonio is dangerous—but not nearly as dangerous as the feelings Izzy’s starting to have for him. With everything she’s fought for on the line, falling for this space cowboy might just ground Izzy’s dreams for good…
It’s March 1, and it’s really getting warmer. Not sure how long I can call this “Stay Inside and Read.” Of course, I do some of my best reading outside…
If you missed last week’s Stay Inside & Read, go here.
This week’s reading list is like a friend reunion. I have my bestie Gena Showalter, then Kresley Cole and Kristen Painter as well, and then all the Harlequin Blazes that hit today. So first up – Gena Showalter. Gena and I met when we were both unpublished at an Oklahoma Romance Writer’s meeting. We had big dreams and both sold our first book the same year! It’s amazing to go on this journey of publishing with your best friend!
Readers are LOVING Lifeblood from Gena’s Everlife series. This young adult is snatching up great reviews everywhere including a Top Pick from Romantic Times. Here’s your blurb:
With her last living breath, Tenley “Ten” Lockwood made her choice and picked her realm in the Everlife. Now, as the war between Troika and Myriad rages, she must face the consequences.
Because Ten possesses a rare supernatural ability to absorb and share light, the Powers That Be have the highest expectations for her future—and the enemy wants her neutralized. Fighting to save her Secondlife, she must learn about her realm from the ground up while launching her first mission: convincing a select group of humans to join her side before they die. No pressure, right?
But Ten’s competition is Killian, the boy she can’t forget—the one who gave up everything for her happiness. He has only one shot at redemption: beating Ten at a game she’s never even played. As their throw-downs heat up, so do their undeniable feelings, and soon, Ten will have to make another choice. Love…or victory.
You can pick up Lifeblood here.
I’ve been asked if Kresley Cole is as cool in person as she seems, and honestly, she’s cooler! What kind of person lets you put duct tape on her mouth and reenact her novel through interpretive dance? (Video below)
Shadow’s Seduction (Immortals After Dark Book 17) went live this week, and here’s your blurb:
In this scorching Immortals After Dark/Dacian novella, #1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole brings together a wicked vampire prince used to getting everything he desires and a demon warrior who always felt like an outcast.
A night of debauchery . . .
Prince Mirceo Daciano and his new friend Caspion the Tracker comb the streets of Dacia, drunkenly seeking out pleasures of the flesh. In what should have been a typical night, they coax a bevy of nymphs to bed. To impress their females, the demon and the vampire kiss on a dare.
Changes them forever . . .
Once they finally break away from their soul-searing kiss, they find themselves alone—and shaken. Had they imagined their explosive chemistry? Obstacles—ranging from a death sentence, to exile on a war-torn dimension—threaten to destroy their lives . . . and the vulnerable promise in that one kiss.
How long can they resist the fire that blazes between them?
Even if Mirceo accepts Caspion as his fated mate, the seductive vampire still must convince the stubborn demon that their bond is forever. And any royal Dacian union must receive the blessing of King Lothaire, an unpredictable and savage killer. . . .
**Includes an 8 chapter bonus preview of WICKED ABYSS!**
You can pick up Shadow’s Seduction here.
Kristen Painter has this quick wit and dry sense of humor that cracks me up all the time. She’s also an incredible cat rescuer and the misadventures with her brood are a blast to read about on Facebook! People have been eating up her Nocturne Falls books since the series began and she dropped The Dragon Finds Forever a few days ago. Here’s your blurb:
The tourists think it’s all a show: the vampires, the werewolves, the witches, the occasional gargoyle flying through the sky. But the supernaturals populating the town know better.
Living in Nocturne Falls means being yourself. Fangs, fur, and all.
Monalisa Devlin is a Will O’ The Wisp, a rare and potentially dangerous creature. Unfortunately, her greedy father makes sure she lives up to that potential. Monalisa is magically compelled to obey her father’s evil commands–until he finally agrees to free her in exchange for one, last mission: Travel to Nocturne Falls and use her powers to force Ivan Tsvetkov back into the ring.
Once a champion on the supernatural MMA circuit, Ivan ‘The Hammer’ Tsvetkov retired after a devastating injury that left him unable to shift into his dragon form. Wounded and embittered, Ivan wants nothing more than to be left alone. Until an infuriating, stubborn, delicately beautiful stranger shows up on his doorstep and demands that he rebuild his life.
Posing as a rehab therapist seemed like the easiest way to get close to the smoldering recluse, but Monalisa quickly realizes that nothing about this mission is going to be easy. To gain his trust, she shares more of herself than she ever has before, and as their connection deepens, so does the weight of her secrets. She thought she was willing to do whatever it took to win her independence…but when her deception blows up in her face, will Monalisa discover that the loss of Ivan’s heart is too high a price to pay? Or will their love rise from the ashes to burn stronger than ever?
You can one-click The Dragon Finds Forever here.
March brings a whole new lineup of amazing Harlequin Blaze books! Harlequin Blaze is near and dear to me as I publishing the majority of my books with them. Blaze will be closing soon, so let’s show these ladies some love!
Sizzling Summer Nights by Debbi Rawlins – Rancher Seth Landers is striving to rebuild his family’s trust and his place in the community. Beautiful visitor Hannah Hastings has her own agenda. Will she be his greatest reward…or his biggest downfall?
Tempted by Kimberly Van Meter – Former air force pilot Teagan Carmichael is maneuvered into going on a singles cruise, where he meets Harper Riley, the sexiest woman he’s ever seen. There’s only one problem—she’s a con artist.
Her Holiday Fling by Jennifer Snow – Hayley Hanna needs a fake fiancé for her corporate retreat, and Chase Hartley is perfect—he’s sexy, funny and kind—but it’s just a business deal. That means no kissing, no sex and no falling in love!
A Cowboy In Paradise by Shana Gray – In her designer dress and high‐heeled shoes, Jimi clearly didn’t belong on a dusty Hawaiian ranch. Or with rugged cowboy Dallas Wilde. Dallas may be a delicious temptation, but could a city girl ever trade Louboutins for lassoes?

As promised – one of our first Author Talks starring the amazing Kresley Cole!
I saw my first weed this past week. A dandelion. So you know spring is almost here.
I read somewhere that you’re not supposed to kill the first dandelions that pop up, because they’re the first food bees see when they begin buzzing in the spring. Of course, that was on an Internet meme so = truth. But I’ll still give it a whirl and pretend dandelions are the prettiest flower out there for the next few weeks – nature’s gift! (Side note – dandelion tea NOT nature’s gift.)
If you missed Stay Inside and Read 8 – go here.
Also, yesterday 6 new Barefoot Bay novellas were released. You can check them out here.
First up this week is Mack Daddy by Penelope Ward.
I think it was Cocky Bastard by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland that I first read of theirs and loved. Both Penelope and Vi were new to me authors at the time, and I enjoyed the book so much I quickly snatched up all their extensive (yay!) backlist. They write together as a team and solo. Penelope has a new book out, here’s your blurb:
They called him Mack Daddy. No, seriously, his name was Mack. Short for Mackenzie. Thus, the nickname. Perfect, right?
So was he: perfect. The perfect physical male specimen.
At the private school where I taught, Mack Morrison was the only man around in a sea of women.
Everyone wanted a piece of the hot, single father of the sweet little boy.
I became a woman I didn’t recognize, someone riddled with jealousy, because they didn’t know that–to me–he was much more.
They didn’t know about our past.
He’d chosen my school for his son on purpose, because Mack and I, we had unfinished business.
As my friend, Lorelai, so eloquently put it: “Unfinished business between two people who are clearly attracted to each other is like an eternal case of blue balls.” And I was suffering in pain from my case.
I was still intensely attracted to Mack. I tried to resist him, immersing myself further into a relationship with someone else just to protect my heart.
Not to mention, getting involved with a parent was strictly against school rules. But seeing Mack day in and day out was breaking me down.
And soon I might be breaking all the rules.
Next up is Tinderbox, by Rachel Grant. This is the first in her new Flashpoint series, and it promises to be suspenseful and romantic. Here’s your blurb:
In the volatile tinderbox of the Horn of Africa, Morgan Adler has made the paleoanthropological find of a lifetime. The discovery brings her to the attention of a warlord eager to claim both Morgan and the fossils, forcing her to make a desperate dash to the nearby US military base to beg for protection.
Master Sergeant Pax Blanchard has orders to intercept Dr. Adler before she reaches the base, and in so doing saves her life. After a harrowing afternoon he safely delivers her to his commanders, only to find his responsibilities toward protecting the obstinate archaeologist have only just begun.
Morgan and Pax are forced to work together in the Djiboutian desert heat, but it is the fire that ignites between them that threatens to combust them both. For the Green Beret, involvement with the woman he must protect is a threat to his career, while for the archaeologist, the soldier is everything she never wanted but somehow can’t resist. When Morgan uncovers a mystery surrounding Djibouti’s most scarce and vital resource, the danger to her reaches the flashpoint. For Pax, protecting her is no longer a matter of following orders, and he’ll risk everything to bring her back alive.
I am a sucker for a guy who’ll risk anything, so you can one-click this baby here.
I ADORE the title for the next book – Finding Mr. Wrong by A.M Madden and Joanne Schwehm. Next spy the hotter than fire cover! Now catch the blurb:
The phrase “trust me” should have been my first clue to hightail it out the door, but hindsight is always 20/20.
So there I was, on a stage with two other men, being asked ridiculous questions by a woman I couldn’t see, but whose voice made my pants tighten―and not around my ankles.
Before I knew what was happening, I’d signed up for six weeks in paradise, isolated on an island for forty-two days with a complete stranger. And when I finally laid eyes on the sexy brunette who belonged to that voice, a part of me thought this wouldn’t be so bad.
I’ve always been a levelheaded guy. I am a successful, smart, and shrewd business man. But that was when I was listening to the head above my shoulders. Once the blood traveled south, I always ran into trouble.
She called me Mr. Wrong, and that was fine with me.
Lesson learned: lust always trumps logic.
You can add Finding Mr. Wrong to your “To Be Read” pile – here.
Royally Matched by Emma Chase is out this week – it’s Book 2 of her Royally series. You can read all about Book 1 – Royally Screwed here. I was charmed by these books!!! You can be, too – check out this blurb:
Some men are born responsible, some men have responsibility thrust upon them. Henry John Edgar Thomas Pembrook, Prince of Wessco, just got the motherlode of all responsibility dumped in his regal lap.
He’s not handling it well.
Hoping to help her grandson to rise to the occasion, Queen Lenora agrees to give him “space”—but while the Queen’s away, the Prince will play. After a chance meeting with an American television producer, Henry finally makes a decision all on his own:
Welcome to Matched: Royal Edition.
A reality TV dating game show featuring twenty of the world’s most beautiful blue bloods gathered in the same castle. Only one will win the diamond tiara, only one will capture the handsome prince’s heart.
While Henry revels in the sexy, raunchy antics of the contestants as they fight, literally, for his affection, it’s the quiet, bespectacled girl in the corner—with the voice of an angel and a body that would tempt a saint—who catches his eye.
The more Henry gets to know Sarah Mirabelle Zinnia Von Titebottum, the more enamored he becomes of her simple beauty, her strength, her kind spirit… and her naughty sense of humor.
But Rome wasn’t built in a day—and irresponsible royals aren’t reformed overnight.
As he endeavors to right his wrongs, old words take on whole new meanings for the dashing Prince. Words like, Duty, Honor and most of all—Love.
You can one-click Royally Matched here.
It was in December of 2015 when the wonderful Roxanne St. Claire invited me to dip my toes into the water of self-publishing and write a novella in her Barefoot Bay Kindle World. That invite eventually became Treasure In The Sand (you can read about it here).
I had such a blast writing Treasure In The Sand I decided to go ahead and jump into the self-publishing pool fully with T&A: Revelations Of A Romance Novel Heroine (you can read about that here).
The great thing about Barefoot Bay Kindle Worlds is that every few months or so, new authors add their voice, and today marks the release of 6 new novellas! Check it out:

Shoulder to Lean On by Morgan Malone
Orthopedic surgeon Levi Gould is known throughout Mimosa Key as Dr. Hottie Rock Star. His silver-streaked black hair, whisky-brown eyes and gym rat physique – coupled with his skill in the operating room – gave him the nickname he detests. Losing his daughters in a messy divorce fueled his penchant for picking up and mending stray dogs and damaged souls. Until he met Ella Anderson.
Ella arrives at Casa Blanca Resort and Spa to recover from injuries sustained in a violent attack. Known throughout the world as E. L. Levin, the best-selling author of the Bloody Murder series of books and the mega-hit movies they spawned, Ella is dodging the press – and her publisher – by hiding out on Mimosa Key. Swearing she is done with writing violent criminal mysteries, she is penning a happily ever after for Bloody Murder’s crime-fighting duo.
Even though their attraction is immediate, both Levi and Ella resist the burgeoning feelings for one another. The doctor with the damaged heart and the writer who believes true love only happens in books find themselves drawn closer and closer. But before they can find their own happy ending, they must confront the secrets that could destroy any chance they have for a forever together.

I hope you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day! It’s like a national holiday for those of us who read and write romance, and there are some great books out there!
If you missed last week’s Stay Inside and Read, you can check it out here.
So, of course in the spirit of Valentine’s, my first suggestions in a young adult dystopian novel – Icefall (The Clearsky Chronicles) by wife and husband writing duo Walt Stone and Mica Stone. I’ve known Walt and Mica for years and I’m so excited about their new venture together! Here’s your blurb:
A world frozen for two hundred years, now on the verge of dying. A centuries-old plan to deliver Earth from extinction. Will the deep-space maneuver actually save the planet? Or will it finish off what remains of mankind?
Odessa, a nineteen-year-old MEDcadet, witnesses the murder of her anatomy professor and finds herself in fear for her life. Fighting recurring panic attacks while sailing from her home on Rhone—the fortified ark created by Cerebus—across the Eastern Sea to Earthland, Odessa manages to keep what she’s seen to herself. To her horror, however, when the vessel docks, she and her podmates are arrested by the very security force who committed the crime.
Reynal Królik, an eighteen-year-old trading post sled driver on Earthland, longs for Clearsky, though he’s never known anything but the gray shroud that darkens the atmosphere. After he and his fellow messengers foil an assassin’s attempt to kill Odessa and her companions, he whisks them away, only to discover he and she are tangled up on opposite sides of the same secret mission to slam an asteroid into Earth—one for which Rey will be the asteroid driver.
Rey and Odessa—along with their friends and a dangerous outlaw—race against time to escape Earthland, but can they evade Cerebus’ flagship war zeppelin in order for Rey to complete the task for which he was destined? A destiny Odessa was taught to deny and will fight to prevent?
Next Up – Unrest by Wendy Higgins, tells the tale of a war torn world:
Being on the run in the desert means food and sanctuary are hard to come by, but Amber Tate and her crew are not about to give up. Not after having the things they love brutally ripped from them by an unknown enemy who sent their world into the apocalypse.
Survival takes precedence, but once safe shelter is found, their guards fall and the emotions they’ve been holding in are finally released. Anger, insecurities…lust. In their tight quarters, Amber, Rylen, Tater, and Remy can’t escape it. The past must be faced, and passions run even stronger in the darkest of times.
In the midst of unrest, their worlds are rocked again when they discover the truth about the war that’s ruined their lives. They thought finding out the enemy’s identity would give them the edge; instead it’s revealed terrifying dangers they never thought possible.
I see a dystopian pattern developing here, so let’s switch it up with Nine Kinds of Naughty by Jeanette Grey, although I’m going to take a moment to admire this gorgeous cover. Second there’s a warning – NOT SUITABLE FOR WORK. LOL – yes, please! Also, Jeanette has a degree in physics which I think is kind of cool!
Lexie Bellamy can handle a boardroom. Relationships, however, are a minefield that always blow up. When a business trip takes her to Spain, Lexie knows she’ll have no problem closing the deal. But spending uninterrupted one-on-one time with her crazy-hot coworker might be more than she can take.
At the office, Lexie gets to call the shots. But this trip is the perfect opportunity for Dane Huntley to show his gorgeous boss how good it can feel when someone else takes charge…
Miles away from home, giving in to Dane’s naughty commands feels so easy. But when the trip is over, Lexie’s determined to go back to their professional relationship. Dane, though, has other ideas. He’ll have to prove that what they’ve found together is real… and he has no intention of letting go.

First Up – Gena Showalter with her novella – Kat In Zombieland. So I was dared to post an embarrassing picture of Gena instead of her book cover, but I’d never do that to my bestie (just between us – scroll down to the bottom of this post). Here’s your blurb:
Kat Parker is dead. And awesome. But mostly dead. She’s become a Witness, a spirit with a single goal: save her ex-boyfriend Frosty and win the war against zombies. Okay, she has two goals.
Devastated by the loss of Kat, Frosty the zombie slayer chases one dangerous situation after another. He is locked in a fierce battle of good against evil, light against dark, and his recklessness has put him on a collision course with destruction. Not even his fellow slayers can help him. But Kat is determined, and she’s willing to do whatever it takes to succeed. Even putting Frosty in the path of a new love…
You can snatch up Kat in Zombieland here.
I had a lot of friends who encouraged me to take the leap into self-publishing, but it was Roxanne who helped me step off the cliff! I adore her and her books, and I’m so excited for her latest in the Barefoot Bay Undercover series – Barefoot Dreams! Here’s the scoop:
A wedding day in Barefoot Bay is always joyous and exciting, but when the groom is none other than superspy bad boy Gabriel Rossi, the frenzy factor is high. Maybe that is the reason his beloved bride-to-be, Lila Wickham, wakes on her wedding day in a cold sweat from a bad, bloody dream.
As much as she wants to wipe away the memory and focus on the happiest day of her life, it soon becomes apparent that the dream heralds unhappiness…and tragedy. Terrified but determined, Lila knows she has only hours to take action against the daunting odds facing her son. But she’s not alone anymore–she has Gabe at her back. And when it comes to defending the people he loves, there’s no one fiercer than Gabe Rossi.
One single day, one embattled couple…one last shadow to dispel before they become the family they were always meant to be.
Bonus: Barefoot Bay short story “Whirlwind” included for free!
You can one-click here.
Another amazing writer who is also a wonderful friend is Lily Everett! I’m so excited for her book – Close to Home. This is part of her Sanctuary Island series. Check it out:
When Tessa Alexander came to Sanctuary Island, she left behind a marriage to a man who didn’t love her the way she loved him. When she finally found the strength to set them both free, she discovered friendship and self-acceptance in her adopted hometown. Now she’s settled into a quiet life on her own—never expecting to see her husband again.
Johnny spent almost two years deep undercover, unable to let his wife into his cold, dangerous world. He’s shaken to the core when he comes home to find her gone. It’s painfully clear that Tessa is no longer the timid young woman he married—she’s become a force of nature, a brave and determined beauty. Johnny can’t let her go without a fight so he sets out to seduce his own wife. But will passion alone be enough to convince Tessa that her new life should include a second chance at happiness with a man who must learn to believe in love?

Tawny and I met because we both wrote for Blaze. She writes some amazing Navy SEAL books, and her latest – Call to Honor: Night Maneuvers Bonus (A SEAL Brotherhood Novel) – hits the shelves this week. Here’s what it’s about:
The Poseidon team are hard-bodied, fiercely competitive navy SEALs. But when a sensitive mission goes disastrously wrong, three of the team’s finest will have to trust their hearts and instincts to uncover the truth…
“No man left behind” is inscribed in the DNA of every SEAL and Lieutenant Diego Torres is no exception. But with a team member killed—and the body missing—Diego’s honor is sorely tested. Now his career and reputation are on the line, and a traitor is hiding among them. Diego wants answers…and only one woman has them.
Single mom Harper Maclean has two priorities—raising her son Nathan and starting a new life. Her mysterious new neighbor may be impossibly charming, but Diego asks too many questions about her past—and about the father of her child. Questions she fears will reveal her burning attraction for Diego, and ultimately put them all in danger’s path.
Cold Memory, by the amazing Leslie A. Kelly, is out this week. I met Leslie when we were first Harlequin Temptation authors and then Blaze (okay, I was aspiring – she was already there!). Not only is she an awesome writer, but she is always there with advice when you need it. I’m so excited about this series. The first three are now bundled together. Here’s your blurb for Book 3 – Cold Memory:
Meet the Extrasensory Agents…A team of hot psychics who can solve the coldest of crimes!
Mick Tanner’s ability to touch an item and know its entire history made him a hit in the sideshow, but has made personal relationships difficult. The closest one he’s ever had is with the uncle who raised him in the carnival. So when members of that community begin to die in mysterious ways, there’s nothing he won’t do to help.
Chief of Police Gypsy Bell remembers Mick as a smug pain-in-the-ass, but he’s grown up to be a very sexy, fascinating man. And like it or not, she needs his help to figure out the mystery that’s plaguing her tiny town. Because this killer has a plan, a motive, and several targets. He’s out to right a wrong…no matter how many people he has to kill to do it.
Everyone I know seems to be talking about The Knight by Skye Warren. Skye is a new to me author (because apparently I’ve been living under a rock) so I couldn’t wait to check her out. Here’s your blurb for The Knight:
Gabriel Miller took everything from me. My family. My innocence. My home. The only thing I have left is the determination to get back what’s mine.
He thinks he’s beaten me. He thinks he’s won. What he doesn’t realize is that every pawn has the chance to become a queen.
And the game has only just begun.
Let’s just take a moment and bask in how beautiful this cover is. Must confess I’m a sucker for a man in a suit! Brenda Jackson is a wonderful writer, and I’m really looking forward to Forged In Desire. Here’s your blurb:
Strong enough to protect her. Bold enough to love her.
When good girl Margo Connelly becomes Lamar “Striker” Jennings’s latest assignment, she knows she’s in trouble. And not just because he’s been hired to protect her from an underworld criminal. The reformed bad boy’s appeal is breaching all her defenses, and as the threats against her increase, Margo isn’t sure which is more dangerous: the gangster targeting her, or the far too alluring protector tempting her to let loose.
Though Striker’s now living on the right side of the law, he’s convinced his troubled past keeps Margo out of his league. But physical chemistry explodes into full-blown passion when they go on the run together. Surrendering to desire could be a deadly distraction—or finally prove that he’s the only man qualified to keep her safe, and win her love.

To round out the list for this week is On Second Thought by Kristan Higgins. I’d love to raise flowers to look like that!!!
So, what makes Kristan Higgins so very special in addition to be a great writer – she’ll be donating a portion of her sales (a minimum of $2500) to St. Jude’s. As someone whose family has been changed by childhood cancer, thanks to Kristan and St. Jude’s! Here’s what On Second Thought is all about:
Ainsley O’Leary is so ready to get married—she’s even found the engagement ring her boyfriend has stashed away. What she doesn’t anticipate is being blindsided by a breakup he chronicles in a blog…which (of course) goes viral. Devastated and humiliated, Ainsley turns to her older half sister, Kate, who’s struggling with a sudden loss of her own.
Kate’s always been the poised, self-assured sister, but becoming a newlywed—and a widow—in the space of four months overwhelms her. Though the sisters were never close, she starts to confide in Ainsley, especially when she learns her late husband was keeping a secret from her.
Despite the murky blended-family dynamic that’s always separated them, Ainsley’s and Kate’s heartaches bind their summer together when they come to terms with the inevitable imperfection of relationships and family—and the possibility of one day finding love again.

I feel kind of bad saying it’s cold outside, so stay in and read when it’s like 70 degrees this week, but I know it must be cold somewhere!
So last week I mentioned how I met the funny and fabulous Darynda Jones – this woman is great! And did I mention funny? Her book is out this week – Eleventh Grave in Moonlight. Did I say how funny she is? So check out Eleventh Grave in Moonlight:
A typical day in the life of Charley Davidson involves cheating husbands, errant wives, missing people, philandering business owners, and, oh yeah…demons, hell hounds, evil gods, and dead people. Lots and lots of dead people. As a part time Private Investigator and full-time Grim Reaper, Charley has to balance the good, the bad, the undead, and those who want her dead.
Now, Charley is learning to make peace with the fact that she is a goddess with all kinds of power and that her own daughter has been born to save the world from total destruction. But the forces of hell are determined to see Charley banished forever to the darkest corners of another dimension. With the son of Satan himself as her husband and world-rocking lover, will Charley be able to defeat the ultimate evil and find a way to have her happily ever after after all?

I’ve always followed Farrah Rochon because of her cool name – Farrah. Jill Monroe has a tie to a woman named Farrah – do you know what it is? Plus Farrah is a member of RWA’s Board of Directors, a very thankless job, so thanks to Farrah and happy book birthday. (She’s also a lot of fun to check out on Facebook!)
What was she thinking?
The last thing Indina Holmes needs in her life is three days on the open seas with her loving but nosy family. But that’s exactly what she’s in store for her when her brother guilts her into joining the Holmes family reunion cruise. When she needs a cabin mate at the last minute, her only option is the co-worker she’s been sleeping with for the past year. Now, she just has to keep her family from trying to play matchmaker.
What was he thinking?
For the past eight months, Griffin Sims has pretended to be okay with the co-worker-with-benefits arrangement he’s had going with Indina, but he wants more than just her body. He wants a real relationship. Indina’s invitation to join her on a cruise is exactly the opportunity Griffin has been looking for to prove to the woman who has been sharing his bed that it’s time for her to share her heart.

Next up is a wonderful lady who represents Team Jill fabulously – Jill Shalvis! Jill is a good sport, and once let us film an Author Talk in her room – thanks Jill and happy release!
Elle Wheaton’s priorities: friends, career, and kick-ass shoes. Then there’s the muscular wall of stubbornness that’s security expert Archer Hunt—who comes before everything else. No point in telling Mr. “Feels-Free Zone” that, though. Elle will just see other men until she gets over Archer . . . which should only take a lifetime . . .
There’s no such thing as a little in lust . . .
Archer’s wanted the best for Elle ever since he sacrificed his law-enforcement career to save her. Their chemistry could start the next San Francisco earthquake and he craves her 24/7, but Archer doesn’t want to be responsible for the damage. The alternative? Watch her go out with guys who aren’t him . . .
There is such a thing as . . .
As far as Archer’s concerned, nobody is good enough for Elle. But when he sets out to prove it by sabotaging her dates, she gets mad—and things get hot as hell. Now Archer has a new mission: prove to Elle that her perfect man has been here all along . . .

I don’t know how I first discovered Kendall Ryan, but after reading one of her books, I quickly began snapping up the rest. I adore her writing. Check out this blurb, but before you do – check out her amazing cover! Gorgeous!!
Now twenty-four, he’s broad shouldered and masculine, and so sinfully sexy, I want to climb him like the jungle gyms we used to enjoy. At six-foot-something with lean muscles hiding under his T-shirt, a deep sexy voice, and full lips that pull into a smirk when he studies me, he’s pure temptation.
Fresh out of a messy breakup, he doesn’t want any entanglements. But I can resist, right?
I’m holding strong until the third night of our new arrangement when we get drunk and he confesses his biggest secret of all: he’s cursed when it comes to sex. Apparently he’s a god in bed, and women instantly fall in love with him.
I’m calling bullshit. In fact, I’m going to prove him wrong, and if I rack up a few much-needed orgasms in the process, all the better.
There’s no way I’m going to fall in love with Cannon. But once we start…I realize betting against him may have been the biggest mistake of my life.

I’m so excited for Lori Foster’s latest, Under Pressure. Honestly, I don’t know how this woman does what all she does – including her great Reader and Author Event. Here’s your blurb:
Leese Phelps’s road hasn’t been an easy one, but it’s brought him to the perfect job—working for the elite Body Armor security agency. And what his newest assignment lacks in size, she makes up for in fire and backbone. But being drawn to Catalina Nicholson is a dangerous complication, especially since it could be the very man who hired Leese who’s threatening her.
What Catalina knows could get her killed. But who’d believe the sordid truth about her powerful stepfather? Beyond Leese’s ripped body and brooding gaze is a man of impeccable honor. He’s the last person she expects to trust—and the first who’s ever made her feel safe. And he’s the only one who can help her expose a deadly secret, if they can just stay alive long enough…

This has been a crazy week for book lovers – crazy good! So there’s never been a better time to stay inside and read! If you missed Stay Inside and Read #3 – go here.
This past weekend I spent in the wonderful city of New Orleans for FeverCon. What a blast! Not only did I get to hang and eat some of the greatest food with my bestie Gena, but I got to see Karen Marie Monning and Dianna Love again (I’ve left her blurb and cover for last!), but I got to meet the amazing Darynda Jones in person. (Her latest book – Eleventh Grave in Moonlight comes out the 24th – more on that next week.)
So first up will be Karen Marie Moning’s Feversong. Here’s your blurb:
As Mac, Barrons, Ryodan, and Jada struggle to restore control, enemies become allies, right and wrong cease to exist, and the lines between life and death, lust and love, disappear completely. Black holes loom menacingly over Dublin, threatening to destroy the earth, yet the greatest danger is the one MacKayla Lane has unleashed from within: The Sinsar Dubh—a sentient book of unthinkable evil—has possessed her body and will stop at nothing in its insatiable quest for power.
The fate of Man and Fae rests on destroying the book and recovering the long-lost Song of Making, the sole magic that can repair the fragile fabric of the earth. But to achieve these aims, sidhe-seers, the Nine, Seelie, and Unseelie must form unlikely alliances and make heart-wrenching choices. For Barrons and Jada, this means finding the Seelie queen, who alone can wield the mysterious song, negotiating with a lethal Unseelie prince hell-bent on ruling the Fae courts, and figuring out how to destroy the Sinsar Dubh while keeping Mac alive.
This time, there’s no gain without sacrifice, no pursuit without risk, no victory without irrevocable loss. In the battle for Mac’s soul, every decision exacts a tremendous price.
You can purchase Feversong here.
If you spend much time around me and I start talking books – it won’t be long before I mention Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. I read their first book together because I thought their title was intriguing and I loved the blurb and cover. Little did I know they’d both become my automatic one-clicks! Vi has a new book out this week, and reading Egomaniac is my reward to myself after I write a synopsis. (This will probably be the fastest written synopsis EVER!) First, take a moment to love on the cover. Now here’s your blurb:
The night I met Drew Jagger, he’d just broken into my new Park Avenue office.
I dialed 9-1-1 before proceeding to attack him with my fancy new Krav Maga skills.
He quickly restrained me, then chuckled, finding my attempted assault amusing.
Of course, my intruder had to be arrogant.
Only, turned out, he wasn’t an intruder at all.
Drew was the rightful occupant of my new office. He’d been on vacation while his posh space was renovated.
Which was how a scammer got away with leasing me office space that wasn’t really available for rent.
I was swindled out of ten grand.
The next day, after hours at the police station, Drew took pity on me and made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. In exchange for answering his phones while his secretary was out, he’d let me stay until I found a new place.
I probably should have acted grateful and kept my mouth shut when I overheard the advice he was spewing to his clients. But I couldn’t help giving him a piece of my mind.
I never expected my body to react every time we argued. Especially when that was all we seemed to be able to do.
The two of us were complete opposites. Drew was a bitter, angry, gorgeous-as-all-hell, destroyer of relationships. And my job was to help people save their marriages.
The only thing the two of us had in common was the space we were sharing.
And an attraction that was getting harder to deny by the day.

Carly Phillips is wonderful. When I was an unpublished author and trying to sell to Harlequin, she was so generous with her time and advice, so I’m thrilled she has a new book out! Check out Big Shot, that she’s writing along with Erika Wilde.
Wes Sinclair is a notorious heart-breaker, a hot as sin bad boy with a panty-dropping smile no woman can resist. Except for his best friend’s little sister and business adversary, Natalie Prescott, who seems immune to his flirtatious charms. While she’s become a permanent fixture in his dirtiest, most scandalous fantasies, she wants nothing to do with him, or his seductive promises. Challenge accepted. His goal? To bring her to her knees, make her beg, and show her just how good being bad can be.
You can get Big Shot here.
There’s nothing more intriguing than a terrible and secret past – in a romance novel – I’ll pass in real life. Sawyer Bennett brings all that and more with Finding Kyle. (If you can’t stop gazing at that cover you’re not alone!) Check it:
When you’ve lived your life as a criminal…
When you’ve done unspeakable things …
When your soul has become dark and stained…
The path to redemption begins where you least expect it.
Kyle Sommerville is in hiding and doesn’t want to be found by anyone. Certainly not by his quirky, free-spirited neighbor who’s managed to push her way past the walls he’s built around him. But Jane Cresson’s indomitable will and insatiable curiosity about her reclusive neighbor makes it impossible for Kyle to stay immersed in his dark world.
Little by little, she claws through his shell.
Day by day, she gets him to smile a little more.
Night by night, they both find pleasure they never knew existed.
When Kyle’s terrible past is exposed, Jane begins to think she’s in over her head. Can her love for this broken man finally clear his path to redemption, or will Kyle’s darkness extinguish every bit of hope she’s put into him?
You can add Finding Kyle to your reading list by clicking here.
So I’m trying to describe this book without major spoilers, so let’s just say there’s dark secrets and dangerous enemies and a sexy and powerful billionaire!
