Stay Inside and Read – 9

Facebooktwittergoogle_pluspinterest

I saw my first weed this past week.  A dandelion.  So you know spring is almost here.

I read somewhere that you’re not supposed to kill the first dandelions that pop up, because they’re the first food bees see when they begin buzzing in the spring.  Of course that was on an Internet meme so = truth.  But I’ll still give it a whirl and pretend dandelions are the prettiest flower out there for the next few weeks – nature’s gift!  (Side note – dandelion tea NOT nature’s gift.)

Also, yesterday 6 new Barefoot Bay novellas were released.  You can check them out here.

First up this week is Mack Daddy by Penelope Ward.

I think it was Cocky Bastard by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland that I first read of theirs and loved.  Both Penelope and Vi were new to me authors at the time, and I enjoyed the book so much I quickly snatched up all their extensive (yay!) backlist.  They write together as a team and solo.  Penelope has a new book out, here’s your blurb:

Single Dad. Second Chances. Meet Mack in the newest STANDALONE novel from New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward.

They called him Mack Daddy. No, seriously, his name was Mack. Short for Mackenzie. Thus, the nickname. Perfect, right?

So was he: perfect. The perfect physical male specimen.

At the private school where I taught, Mack Morrison was the only man around in a sea of women.

Everyone wanted a piece of the hot, single father of the sweet little boy.

I became a woman I didn’t recognize, someone riddled with jealousy, because they didn’t know that–to me–he was much more.

They didn’t know about our past.

He’d chosen my school for his son on purpose, because Mack and I, we had unfinished business.

As my friend, Lorelai, so eloquently put it: “Unfinished business between two people who are clearly attracted to each other is like an eternal case of blue balls.” And I was suffering in pain from my case.

I was still intensely attracted to Mack. I tried to resist him, immersing myself further into a relationship with someone else just to protect my heart.

Not to mention, getting involved with a parent was strictly against school rules. But seeing Mack day in and day out was breaking me down.

And soon I might be breaking all the rules.

You can get Mack Daddy here and Cocky Bastard here.

Next up is Tinderbox, by Rachel Grant.  This is the first in her new Flashpoint series, and it promises to be suspenseful and romantic.  Here’s your blurb:

In the volatile tinderbox of the Horn of Africa, Morgan Adler has made the paleoanthropological find of a lifetime. The discovery brings her to the attention of a warlord eager to claim both Morgan and the fossils, forcing her to make a desperate dash to the nearby US military base to beg for protection.

Master Sergeant Pax Blanchard has orders to intercept Dr. Adler before she reaches the base, and in so doing saves her life. After a harrowing afternoon he safely delivers her to his commanders, only to find his responsibilities toward protecting the obstinate archaeologist have only just begun.

Morgan and Pax are forced to work together in the Djiboutian desert heat, but it is the fire that ignites between them that threatens to combust them both. For the Green Beret, involvement with the woman he must protect is a threat to his career, while for the archaeologist, the soldier is everything she never wanted but somehow can’t resist. When Morgan uncovers a mystery surrounding Djibouti’s most scarce and vital resource, the danger to her reaches the flashpoint. For Pax, protecting her is no longer a matter of following orders, and he’ll risk everything to bring her back alive.

I am a sucker for a guy who’ll risk anything, so you can one-click this baby here.

I ADORE the title for the next book – Finding Mr. Wrong by A.M Madden and Joanne Schwehm.  Next spy the hotter than fire cover!  Now catch the blurb:

Here’s a tip: never trust a jackass in preppy clothing.

The phrase “trust me” should have been my first clue to hightail it out the door, but hindsight is always 20/20.

So there I was, on a stage with two other men, being asked ridiculous questions by a woman I couldn’t see, but whose voice made my pants tighten―and not around my ankles.

Before I knew what was happening, I’d signed up for six weeks in paradise, isolated on an island for forty-two days with a complete stranger. And when I finally laid eyes on the sexy brunette who belonged to that voice, a part of me thought this wouldn’t be so bad.

I’ve always been a levelheaded guy. I am a successful, smart, and shrewd business man. But that was when I was listening to the head above my shoulders. Once the blood traveled south, I always ran into trouble.

She called me Mr. Wrong, and that was fine with me.

Lesson learned: lust always trumps logic.

Royally Matched by Emma Chase is out this week – it’s Book 2 of her Royally series.  You can read all about Book 1 – Royally Screwed here.   I was charmed by these books!!!  You can be, too – check out this blurb:

Some men are born responsible, some men have responsibility thrust upon them. Henry John Edgar Thomas Pembrook, Prince of Wessco, just got the motherlode of all responsibility dumped in his regal lap.

He’s not handling it well.

Hoping to help her grandson to rise to the occasion, Queen Lenora agrees to give him “space”—but while the Queen’s away, the Prince will play. After a chance meeting with an American television producer, Henry finally makes a decision all on his own:

Welcome to Matched: Royal Edition.

A reality TV dating game show featuring twenty of the world’s most beautiful blue bloods gathered in the same castle. Only one will win the diamond tiara, only one will capture the handsome prince’s heart.

While Henry revels in the sexy, raunchy antics of the contestants as they fight, literally, for his affection, it’s the quiet, bespectacled girl in the corner—with the voice of an angel and a body that would tempt a saint—who catches his eye.

The more Henry gets to know Sarah Mirabelle Zinnia Von Titebottum, the more enamored he becomes of her simple beauty, her strength, her kind spirit… and her naughty sense of humor.

But Rome wasn’t built in a day—and irresponsible royals aren’t reformed overnight.

As he endeavors to right his wrongs, old words take on whole new meanings for the dashing Prince. Words like, Duty, Honor and most of all—Love.
